Anganwadi Centre

ICDS Ladakh encompasses various Anganwadi Centres within the UT of Ladakh which serves the beneficiaries comprising of Children (6 months to 6 years), Pregnant Ladies & Nursing Mothers (up to 6 months).

The Anganwadi Centres serves the beneficiaries with Supplementary Nutrition, Health Checkup, Immunization, Nutrition & Health Education & Non-Formal Pre-School Education.

Objectives of ICDS

To improve the nutritional and health status of the children in the age group of 0-6.
To lay the foundation for proper psychological, physical and social development of the child.
To reduce the incidence of mortality, morbidity, mal-nutrition and school dropouts.
To enhance the capabilities of mother to look after the normal health and nutrition needs of the child through proper nutrition and health education.
To achieve affective coordination of policy and implementation amongst the various department to promote child development.

In total there are 13 ICDS Projects functional in UT Ladakh, 7 projects in district Kargil & 6 Projects in District Leh and each project has several AWCs within them totalling the count of functional AWCs to 1149.
