Eklavya Model Residential School

The Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) is a nationwide initiative to establish exemplary residential schools for Scheduled Tribes (STs). Commencing in the fiscal year 1997-98, the scheme operates under the auspices of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, GoI. It aspires to develop schools comparable to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and Kendriya Vidyalayas, emphasizing state-of-the-art facilities to preserve local art and culture.

Objective:

The primary objective of EMRS schools is to provide high-quality education at the upper primary, secondary, and senior secondary levels to Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) students in tribal-dominated areas. In addition to academic pursuits, the schools offer a spectrum of extra-curricular activities, aiming to facilitate access to the finest educational opportunities and to bridge the educational gap, bringing these students on par with the general population.
