'Mission Shakti' - an integrated women empowerment programme as umbrella scheme for the safety, security and empowerment of women.

Mission Shakti aims to make India a land of equal opportunities irrespective of gender where women are empowered to live with dignity and enjoy economic prosperity.

One-Stop Centre is aimed at supporting women affected by any kind of violence. It provides temporary shelter and food facilities to aggrieved women for a maximum period of 5 days.

Specialised services like Medical Assistance, Police Assistance, Legal Counselling, Shelter, video Conferencing facilities and Psycho-social supports will be provided to Women who is facing any kind of violence.

Other service under OSC includes Emergency Response, Rescue Services & Assistance to women in lodging the FIR.

UT Ladakh has 2 women’s hostel, 1 in district Leh and 1 in district Kargil which offers hostel facilities to Working women and girls studying in colleges.

Unlike One Stop Centre, the beneficiaries can avail accommodation for longer stays in women hostel.

The women’s Hostel also caters to the prospective beneficiaries of Shakti Sadan Scheme, Ujjawala & Swadhar Greh schemes launched by the MoWCD.

Recognising the need for a single window system for inter- sectoral convergence of schemes and programs meant for women, the Government has set up Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW) at National, State and District levels under ‘Samarthya’ sub-scheme of ‘Mission Shakti. The Hubs aim to facilitate women’s access to various institutional and schematic set ups for information dissemination and availing services pertaining to healthcare, quality education, career and vocational counselling/ training, financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, backward and forward linkages, health and safety for workers, social security and digital literacy etc.
